VueScan currently supports over 400 different scanners, and is available for Windows, Mac and even Linux. Instead of using the drivers that came with your scanner, you use VueScan instead. I don't know how easy it would be for you to get a motherboard with more slots, a motherboard with onboard Firewire, or a video card that has both video and Firewire ports. That means there is no place for you to plug in the type of Firewire adapter (PCI-e card, Thunderbolt dock, or Thunderbolt adapter) that could actually work. I presume that the video card has no Firewire or Thunderbolt ports, either. It sounds like your PC has only a single PCI-e expansion slot – occupied by a video card – and no onboard Firewire or Thunderbolt ports. As long as there's such an "adapter" between the computer and scanner, the scanner 'won't work" either. So, after consultations on forums, I have bought an adapter Firewire to USB 2.Īs you were told already, in this very thread, those things don't work.
